Ukraine may face shortage of air defense missiles due to war in Iran - Zelenskyy
Ukraine may find it difficult to find missiles for air defense systems if the Americans and their allies in the Middle East need them for their own defense against Iranian attacks. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with the Corriere Della Sera newspaper on Tuesday, March 3.
Zelenskyy noted that the destruction of Iran's military targets was the right decision, since this country produces and supplies a lot of weapons to russia. In his opinion, now the russian federation can help Iran with weapons in response. At the same time, this situation carries additional risks for Ukraine, the head of state said.
"It may be difficult for us to find missiles and weapons to protect our skies. The Americans and their allies in the Middle East may need them for defense, for example, with the help of anti-Patriot missiles. We are resorting to the PURL program to buy American weapons for European funds: perhaps the Americans will need them, like last year," Zelenskyy stressed.
The President recalled how last year, due to Iran's attack on Israel, missile delivery programs for Ukraine were slowed down. According to Zelenskyy, this has not happened yet, but it could happen again.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 2, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed sending his best experts on shooting down Iranian drones to the Middle East if the leaders of the countries persuade russian dictator vladimir putin to agree to a month-long ceasefire in russia's war against Ukraine.
Also on March 2, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on Europe to increase air defense production against the backdrop of events in the Middle East.
As a reminder, on March 2, US President Donald Trump said that the US military is "totally" crushing Iran, but a large wave of strikes is still ahead.
