Russia ready to accept US security guarantees for Ukraine - Budanov
During the talks, the russian side declared its readiness to accept security guarantees for Ukraine from the United States. The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov announced this in an interview with journalists.
The official noted that he believes in the negotiation process with the russians, as it means "the end of bloodshed and the future for our country," although he confirmed the lack of agreement on territorial issues and the meeting of the leaders of Ukraine, the United States and russia. As for Washington's security commitments, according to the head of the President's Office, the aggressor recognized the inevitability of their acceptance.
"At the last talks, the Russian side explicitly said that it would accept the security guarantees offered to Ukraine by the United States, and there is no way around it. Those offered by the United States, they directly say that yes, we will be forced to accept them, we are ready to accept them," he said.
Kyrylo Budanov also suggested that the mechanism of these guarantees could be activated in parallel with the end of hostilities, although he admitted that this is "not the only position" in the discussion.
