United States President Donald Trump wants to reach a peace agreement between the aggressor country russia and Ukraine by July 4, when the 250th anniversary of American independence will be celebrated. It was reported by Bloomberg on Tuesday, February 24.

According to the publication, the United States insists on concluding a peace agreement, although there are no signs of russian dictator putin's readiness to sign documents that do not meet his basic demands. While the talks between the three sides remain constructive, they are effectively at an impasse, a person familiar with the negotiations said.

"Allies say the US is pushing for a deal before Trump hosts the 250th anniversary celebrations of American independence on July 4, but there’s no indication that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to reach an agreement that doesn’t grant his central demands," the article says.

Bloomberg notes that Trump has repeatedly expressed frustration with the slow pace of the negotiations, while criticizing putin and increasing pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to make concessions. One concern among Kyiv's allies is that putin could agree to a ceasefire that would allow Trump to claim success in ending the war, while russia continues its hybrid warfare or election meddling aimed at destabilizing Ukraine.
