Russia spying on EU satellites - CCD
The aggressor country russia continues to increase its reconnaissance activities in space, posing a threat to Europe's satellite infrastructure. Major General Michael Traut, the Commander of German Space Command, has stated this, the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine reports.
The russian satellites in question are Luch-1 and Luch-2, which have come close to at least ten key European satellites. These devices carry out SIGINT intelligence - electronic collection and analysis of communication signals.
It is noted that the EU satellites, which are being approached by russian satellites, are mainly used for civilian purposes, in particular for satellite television. At the same time, they also transmit sensitive government and some military communications, including those of NATO countries.
"Such Russian activity in space is seen as an element of a broader hybrid war, which the Kremlin is increasingly using as a tool to destabilize the countries of the European Union," the CCD emphasizes.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, according to the CCD, every seventh region of the aggressor country russia has faced critical accidents in the housing and communal sector over the past month.
