President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope that a diplomatic result and stable peace will be achieved in less than a year. He stated this in an interview with the French TV channel France 2.

At the same time, he emphasized that for Ukraine, this struggle is a matter of survival, because defeat would mean a complete loss of state independence and sovereignty.

"I hope that peace will be achieved in less than a year. If we lose this war, we will lose the independence of our country," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The President emphasized that the current war is existential in nature, as russia seeks the actual destruction of Ukraine as an independent entity. Despite the complexity of the situation at the front and constant threats, Zelenskyy expressed confidence that a catastrophic scenario would be avoided thanks to the efforts of the Ukrainian people and the support of partners.

The diplomatic path remains one of the key tools for finalizing the conflict, but it must provide real security guarantees so that Ukraine does not face the threat of a new attack in the future.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy stated that the aggressor country russia would need to lose another 800,000 servicemen to fully capture the Donbas.

The President also informed that the bilateral document on security guarantees with the United States is ready.
