The Cabinet of Ministers has allocated more than UAH 2.5 billion from the state budget reserve fund to purchase generators for territorial communities. It was announced by the Ministry of Economy, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

The government made the decision at an extraordinary meeting.

"One of the most important tasks today is to provide people with heat and light. The funds allocated by today's decision from the reserve fund will be used to purchase mobile heat and power distribution equipment in a short time. We are doing our best to deliver it to the territorial communities as soon as possible," said Vitalii Kindrativ, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture.

Funds have been allocated to the State Agency for Infrastructure Restoration and Development (for regional state (military) administrations), and the procurement customer is the company "Restoration of Critical Infrastructure."

The Ministry of Communities and Territories Development reported that the high-capacity generators will be provided to communities in the Dnipropetrovsk, Chernihiv, Donetsk, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv and Odesa Regions. The equipment will also be transferred to settlements where there is already an urgent need for backup power sources, including Kyiv.

The Ministry of Development notes that the Restoration Agency has already held market consultations and received commercial offers. Purchases are planned to be made directly from manufacturers, including equipment that is already available in European countries. The estimated delivery time is several weeks.
