Trump wrote letter to Prime Minister of Norway, where he linked threats to Greenland with not receiving Nobel Peace Prize - Bloomberg

US President Donald Trump sent a letter to the Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Støre, in which he linked his statements about Greenland with the refusal to award the Nobel Peace Prize, directly blaming the country, not the committee. In it, the American President also claims that he "no longer feels an obligation to think exclusively about peace."

This is reported by Bloomberg.

"Given that your country has decided not to award me the Nobel Peace Prize for stopping 8 PLUS wars, I no longer feel an obligation to think exclusively about peace. While that will always prevail, I can now think about what is good and right for the United States of America," says Trump's letter, obtained by Bloomberg.

He added: "The world will not be safe if we do not have full and total control over Greenland."

The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded not by the Norwegian government, but by an independent committee.

"Regarding the Nobel Peace Prize, I have made it clear to Trump several times what is well known, namely that the prize is awarded by an independent Nobel Committee, not the Norwegian government," Støre said in a statement sent to Bloomberg.

Nobel Peace Prize laureate and Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado presented her medal to Trump, who accepted it at a meeting at the White House.

"The Nobel Prize and the laureate are inextricably linked. Even if the medal or diploma later becomes the property of another person, this does not change who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize," the Nobel Committee said in an official statement.

The publication noted that Trump's letter to the Norwegian Prime Minister was first reported by a PBS journalist on X. It states that it was passed on by Trump's National Security Council to several other European governments, according to people familiar with the matter, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

"Dear Jonas! Given that your country has decided not to award me the Nobel Peace Prize for stopping 8 wars PLUS, I no longer feel obligated to think exclusively about peace, although that will always prevail, but I can now think about what is good and right for the United States of America. Denmark cannot defend this land from russia or China, and why do they have "ownership" at all? There is no written record, only that a boat docked there hundreds of years ago, but we also had boats that docked there. I have done more for NATO than anyone else since its founding, and now NATO must do something for the United States. The world will not be safe until we have full and total control of Greenland. Thank you! President D. T."

Recall, after a conversation with NATO head Mark Rutte, Trump made another statement regarding Greenland, accusing Denmark of inaction amid the "russian threat."

The day before, the European Union was preparing an emergency meeting of ambassadors in connection with US President Donald Trump's statement regarding new tariffs on Greenland.
