Kyiv residents advised to charge power banks and prepare warm things. There is threat of shelling against background of cold snap
Kyiv residents should prepare additional power sources and warm things in advance in case the aggressor country of russia attacks the energy system against the background of the cold snap. This is stated in the appeal of the Kyiv City State Administration on Thursday, January 8.
The Kyiv City State Administration has published tips that will help maintain comfort and respond to changing circumstances in the event of enemy shelling.
- Find the nearest shelters, heating points and pump rooms on the maps and save the addresses so that you can quickly find your way around if necessary.
- Check the charge of power banks and portable charging stations, prepare flashlights, battery-operated lamps or accumulators, candles, matches, spare batteries.
- Take care of warm household items and blankets, as well as insulated places for your pets.
- Stock up on drinking and technical water and long-term food that does not require electricity for cooking.
- If possible, insulate your home: seal window joints, check the insulation, and place thermal insulation material between the wall and the battery.
The Kyiv City State Administration noted that city and municipal services are already working in an enhanced mode, having prepared additional algorithms for responding to power outages. In addition, 69 mobile boiler houses have been prepared for operation, which will be able to provide autonomous heat supply to hospitals, maternity hospitals, social security institutions, and other critically important facilities.
Housing organizations were also provided with recommendations on the stable operation of home heating systems in case of emergency situations during the frost period.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 8, the State Emergency Service called on Ukrainians to stay at home if possible on Friday, January 9, due to a significant deterioration in weather conditions.
