Ukrhydroenergo strengthens anti-corruption control after scandal at Energoatom

In order to prevent corruption, the state-owned enterprise Ukrhydroenergo announced the strengthening of internal control and the renewal of its anti-corruption mechanisms. This decision was made after the discovery of corruption schemes at Energoatom. This was reported by the press service of Ukrhydroenergo.

An extraordinary meeting was held on behalf of the main shareholder. The meeting reviewed the current control mechanisms of the supervisory system to confirm the stability of Ukrhydroenergo's management.

"During the meeting, reports were heard from the internal audit, risk management, compliance and anti-corruption program departments," the report said.

Following the results of the extraordinary meeting, a number of key decisions were made:

"Ukrhydroenergo confirms its readiness to work in conditions of increased responsibility and maintain high management standards," commented the chairman of the company's supervisory board, Valentyn Hvozdiy, on the results of the meeting.

Meanwhile, NABU has announced suspicion against former Vice Prime Minister Oleksii Chernyshov in the case of illegal enrichment and participation in a corruption scheme in the energy sector.

The High Anti-Corruption Court has also chosen a preventive measure for Lesia Ustymenko and Ihor Fursenko, who are suspected of involvement in a large-scale corruption scheme to embezzle funds from the state-owned company Energoatom.

Earlier, the High Anti-Corruption Court sent two more defendants in the case into custody - Ihor Myroniuk, for whom bail was set at UAH 126 million, and the executive director for security of Energoatom Dmytro Basov (Tenor) - with bail of UAH 40 million. Minister of Energy Svitlana Hrynchuk wrote a letter of resignation, and also stated that speculation on her personal relationships was inappropriate - this is about Herman Halushchenko.
