Mikheil Saakashvili returned from clinic to prison: ex-President will continue to serve 12-year sentence

Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, after a long treatment at the private clinic Vivamed, returned to correctional facility No. 12. There he will continue to serve his sentence, which will last until April 1, 2034.

This was reported by Echo of the Caucasus.

The Georgian Penitentiary Service stated that Saakashvili's health is currently satisfactory, so there is no need for further inpatient treatment.

Saakashvili served as President of Georgia from 2004 to 2013, and after the end of his term he received Ukrainian citizenship. In 2021, he returned to Georgia, where he was arrested on a previously issued in absentia sentence.
