Ukraine destroys one Oreshnik missile at Astrakhan Oblast test site - Maliuk
Ukraine's defense forces destroyed an Oreshnik intercontinental ballistic missile at the Kapustin Yar test site in the Astrakhan Oblast of the aggressor country russia.
The head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Malyuk said this at a press conference with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to Suspilne.
According to Maliuk, the operation to destroy the missile was carried out in the summer of 2023. It was attended by representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine and the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.
"The destruction was one hundred percent. It was a very successful operation, it was not publicized at the time. It was reported exclusively to the President of Ukraine, and several presidents of other countries knew about it," the SSU chief said.
He added that at that time, the russians had only three Oreshnik missiles. In fact, no one in the general public used the name at the time.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, this year the russians have produced no more than three Oreshnik missiles. They plan to produce up to six missiles a year starting next year
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on November 21, 2024, the russian army launched a missile strike on the city of Dnipro, using an intercontinental ballistic missile for the first time.
According to russian dictator vladimir putin, the russian army used a missile called Oreshnik during the attack on Dnipro.
As a reminder, on November 24, 2024, journalists were shown the wreckage of the Oreshnik missile found in Dnipro after the russian strike.
As Reuters later reported, the russians used an Oreshnik missile to strike Dnipro, equipped with mock-ups, not a real warhead.
