Russian exports of oil products by sea fall to level of early 2022 - Bloomberg
The aggressor country Russia has significantly reduced exports of gasoline, diesel and other petroleum products amid refinery downtime and tougher sanctions. This is reported by Bloomberg
According to the analytical company Vortexa, from October 1 to 26, the volume of russian exports of oil products by sea averaged 1.89 million barrels per day. This is the lowest figure since the beginning of 2022.
This decline is a blow to moscow's efforts to maintain stable energy revenues. Ukraine's systematic attacks on refineries and other oil refining facilities have disrupted oil financing and transportation. In addition, the latest wave of Western sanctions has caused a wave of new uncertainty, forcing traders to maneuver payment routes and voyage timing.
Experts believe that russian diesel exports will remain relatively stable in the near future, as most shipments are destined for neighboring markets, both Turkey and Africa. The cargoes can be delivered there before the new US sanctions come into effect (November 21).
Crude oil and fuel oil shipments were more vulnerable, as long transportation to Asia creates a risk of delay for some sanctioned cargoes.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Reuters earlier wrote that due to Ukrainian strikes on refineries in September, russia cut exports of oil products by 17.1%.
Also this month, the International Energy Agency (IEA) reported that due to the Ukrainian attacks, russia will be forced to curb oil refining volumes at least until mid-2026.
