Drone spotted over Equinor platform in North Sea in Norway

On the evening of September 29, an unmanned aerial vehicle was spotted on Equinor's Sleipner platform in the North Sea.

The incident was reported by Norwegian media outlet VG.

According to the company, the drone was spotted by the platform's employees. The Norwegian police noted that they will investigate the circumstances of the incident together with the intelligence service.

Law enforcement officials clarified that the drone surveillance did not affect the platform's operation, and the company adheres to its own security procedures

The incident comes amid several cases of unidentified drones in Norway. on September 23, Oslo Airport was closed due to drones, and the day before, several flights were forced to change their routes.

On the night of September 10, the airspace of Poland was violated by russian drones during russia's attack on Ukraine. This was the first time Polish aviation shot down drones over its territory.

On September 13, russian drones once again entered the territory of Romania. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, one of the drones flew at a distance of almost 10 km in the airspace of the NATO country and stayed there for about 50 minutes. Drone wreckage was also found on the beaches of Bulgaria and Latvia.

On September 23, Copenhagen's main airport in Denmark was temporarily closed for four hours because of drones. Police did not shoot down any of the UAVs. The country called the incident the most serious attack on critical infrastructure and linked it to a series of russian drone incursions in Europe. On the same evening, drones were spotted flying over Norway's main airport.
