Poland to open border with Belarus on Wednesday night – Tusk
Poland will open a section of the state border with Belarus on the night of September 24-25. It was closed for several weeks due to the russian-Belarusian military exercises "Zapad-2025".
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced this today, September 23, Polsat News reports.
"I would like to announce the decision, jointly with the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, who will issue a relevant resolution today, in a few minutes, to reopen border, railway and road checkpoints," Tusk said.
He added that the decision will come into effect at midnight on Wednesday.
The Polish authorities announced the closure of the border with Belarus on September 12 due to the joint military exercises of the russian and Belarusian armies called "Zapad-2025".
Last Tuesday, September 16, the Polish government announced that the section of the border with Belarus would remain closed even after the end of the Zapad-2025 exercises.
Recall that, according to Politico, Poland's closure of the border with Belarus blocked the railway, which carries 90% of goods between the European Union and China.
