19th package of sanctions against russia. What restrictions EU introduced?
The European Commission has approved the 19th package of sanctions against the aggressor country russia. This is indicated in an official statement on the EU website on Friday, September 19.
The new package proposes to ban the import of russian liquefied gas to European markets. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that they have also reduced the maximum price for oil to USD 47.6.
Russia is showing the full extent of its contempt for diplomacy and international law.
The 19th package of sanctions includes:
- sanctions against 118 vessels from the shadow fleet;
- a complete ban on transactions with Rosneft and Gazpromneft;
- a ban on transactions for additional banks in russia and for banks in third countries;
- a ban on transactions in cryptocurrencies;
- new direct export restrictions on items and technologies used by the russian federation on the battlefield;
- sanctions against companies from third countries, including China, that trade with the russian federation.
"We target refineries, oil traders, petrochemical companies in third countries, including China... We are listing foreign banks connected to Russian alternative payment service systems. And we are restricting transactions with entities in special economic zones," der Leyen stressed.
According to her, blocking russia's access to key technologies is crucial.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on September 19, the European Union's spokeswoman for energy Anna-Kaisa Itkonen named eight countries that continue to import gas from the aggressor country russia.
On September 16, Japan rejected the US call to impose tariffs against India and China in order to increase pressure on the aggressor country russia.
As we will recall, on September 13, US President Donald Trump demanded that NATO allies completely abandon imports of russian oil, as well as impose tariffs on goods from China and India in the amount of 50-100%.
