EU names 8 countries that import russian gas – The Guardian
The European Union's spokeswoman for energy, Anna-Kaisa Itkonen, has named eight countries that continue to import gas from the aggressor country russia.
The Guardian reported this on Friday, September 19.
Itkonen noted that Belgium, France, Greece, Hungary, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia and Spain are still importing Russian gas through pipelines or purchasing liquefied natural gas from Russia. According to her, the EU has no data on where this gas is ultimately used.
"This is important against the backdrop of growing frustration on the part of US President Donald Trump on this issue, as he continues to pressure EU and NATO countries to completely stop all energy imports from Russia," the material says.
As a reminder, on September 13, US President Donald Trump demanded that NATO allies completely abandon imports of russian oil, as well as impose tariffs of 50-100% on goods from China and India.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the European Parliament is considering proposals to accelerate the EU's refusal from russian gas by one year earlier - until January 2027.
At the same time, the European Union refused to comply with Trump's demands, which were necessary to strengthen US sanctions against russia.
On September 15, Trump said that the restrictions that the European Union countries have introduced against the aggressor country russia are too weak.
