Men aged 18 to 22 will need to have a military registration document to travel abroad. This was reported to Ukrinform by the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service Andrii Demchenko on Wednesday, August 27.
The document must be in paper or electronic form, Demchenko noted.
"Regarding the possibility of crossing the border by men aged 18 to 22 inclusive, we emphasize that in order to cross the border, it is necessary to have both a passport document that gives the right to cross the border, and a military registration document (or a military registration document in electronic form), which must be presented upon request by a representative of the State Border Guard Service at checkpoints across the state border of Ukraine," the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service said.
According to him, border guards will begin to let men aged 18 to 22 to travel abroad after the official publication and entry into force of the relevant resolution.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on August 12, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he had instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to work out the possibility of simplifying border crossing for citizens under 22.
The MPs propose that the Verkhovna Rada allow men under 24 to travel abroad.
On August 26, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced that the Government had updated the procedure for crossing the state border of Ukraine. Men aged 18 to 22 will be able to cross the border freely during martial law.
