Trump ready to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine, but outside NATO — Politico

US President Donald Trump said during a conversation with European leaders that Washington could provide security guarantees to Ukraine as part of a peaceful settlement, but not within NATO.

It was reported by Politico, citing European officials and diplomats briefed on the details of the discussions.

Trump acknowledges that security guarantees should be an element of a final peace agreement. According to them, he expressed readiness for the United States to play a role in ensuring the security of Kyiv in the event of a cessation of hostilities, but on condition that this would not be part of the alliance.

What exactly Trump meant by "security guarantees", he did not specify, limiting himself to general formulations.
