Shmyhal orders implementation of DELTA system at all levels of Defense Forces
Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal has ordered the implementation of the DELTA system at all levels of the Defense Forces. Shmyhal announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"I signed an order to implement the DELTA system at all levels of the Defense Forces," he said.
Shmyhal noted that DELTA is a combat digital ecosystem that creates a technological advantage for the Ukrainian army: it allows you to see the battlefield in real time, plan operations and exchange information within a unit, brigade, group, and if necessary, with allies.
He added that DELTA successfully passed an information security check and a real combat test: during the defense of Kyiv in 2022, during the destruction of the enemy's Black Sea Fleet, the liberation of Zmiinyi Island and the deoccupation of Kherson.
"Now it will become the only source for data exchange, because it works everywhere - from a laptop, tablet, phone, it is used by commanders of all levels. Every day, the system supports the destruction of more than 2,000 enemy targets, and in a year - this is more than half a million verified damaged and hit targets," the Minister said.
In addition, Shmyhal noted that DELTA is constantly updated, in particular, an artificial intelligence platform has been added to the system, which allows for automatic detection of enemy equipment online. The minister added that the use of DELTA continues to scale, and new modules are also being developed.
In turn, First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov reported that now the coordination of commanders of all levels has become much more effective.
He noted that today DELTA is a powerful technological weapon: it provides over 150,000 parallel viewings of video broadcasts from UAVs at control points and on the front line; contains the most complete statistics on enemy destruction; allows you to make decisions based on high-quality data from the battlefield; helps effectively plan UAV crew missions in real time.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in October 2022, Ukraine presented the real-time battle management system Delta as part of the large-scale North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) event Tide Spirit. At that time, The Wall Street Journal reported that Ukraine managed to create a much cheaper version of the American virtual battle management system MacGyver, the development and implementation of which the Pentagon spent decades and billions of dollars.
In November 2023, the Ministry of Defense announced the expansion of the functionality of the Delta situational awareness system, in particular, a collective online decoding and streaming module was added.
