Pilot took Mirage-2000 aircraft away from settlement and acted competently in crisis situation - Ihnat

The pilot of the Mirage-2000 fighter jet acted competently in a crisis situation in the aircraft - he was able to eject and take the aircraft away from the settlements. This was reported by the head of the communications department of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yurii Ihnat, on Facebook.

It is reported that it was already impossible to save the aircraft due to the crisis situation in the sky.

"The Mirage-2000 pilot acted competently in a crisis situation, it was already impossible to save the plane, but the pilot did everything to direct the plane to a safe place, away from the settlement. We ask the media and specialized experts not to jump to premature conclusions. This happens with equipment in the sky, the reasons will be found out. Such events are not uncommon in world practice. The main thing is to be alive and well, and without consequences on the ground! Let's keep the order," Ihnat said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, during the flight on the Mirage-2000 fighter jet, the aviation equipment failed. The pilot managed to eject.

On February 3, 24-year-old Air Force fighter pilot Captain Ivan Bolotov was killed while performing a combat mission.

On August 25, 2023, three pilots of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were killed, including the famous pilot Dzhus.

On July 27, 2024, a first-year cadet of the Ivan Kozhedub Kharkiv National Air Force University was killed during a training flight.
