Chornomorsk port receives liner container ship for first time since February 2022
For the first time since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the aggressor country russia, the Chornomorsk seaport has received a liner container ship.
The Center for Transport Strategies reported this with reference to the enterprise.
It is reported that last Wednesday, July 16, Chornomorsk set a record for processing loaded containers during a single vessel call – 470 containers.
At the same time, over the past twelve months, the port has processed more than 18,000 TEU.
In Chornomorsk it was noted that providing a liner container ship in wartime conditions is a contribution to the economy and stability of the state.
It was emphasized that Chornomorsk remains the only state port that currently processes container cargo.
TEU is a conventional unit of measurement of capacity, based on the volume of a 20-foot container. Hence its name - Twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU).
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in March of this year, the occupiers' army attacked Odesa, striking the seaport. As a result of the hit, a ship flying the flag of Barbados was damaged, and sailors died.
As we recall, in September 2023, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine stated that the russians had damaged two-thirds of Ukraine's port infrastructure in two months of attacks.
