Ammunition depot burning and exploding in Mykolaiv Region – Southern Defense Forces
Today, July 7, at about 10:00 a.m., a fire broke out at an ammunition storage site in one of the communities of the Mykolaiv Region. The Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.
The cause of the fire is being clarified, but according to preliminary information, it is not related to enemy shelling.
"The fire probably occurred from burning dry grass. There is a single detonation. Units of the State Emergency Service are working at the scene. Firefighters are making every effort to eliminate the fire, the source of the fire has been localized. The depot is located outside the settlements. There is no threat to the local population, but we ask everyone to stay in a safe place," the Defense Forces report.
The military command has created a commission to conduct a detailed investigation of this incident, determine the guilt of officials whose actions or inaction led to the fire.
"After all, every piece of material and technical equipment protects the lives and health of our soldiers on the front line," the message says.
We will remind you that on July 2, at about 6:00 p.m., an explosion occurred near the village of Berezyna, Hlybochytsia community, Zhytomyr Region. The emergency occurred on the 126th kilometer of the M-06 highway Kyiv - Chop, traffic in both directions was blocked.
After the explosion and fire, experts urged residents to close their windows and limit their time on the street.
On the morning of July 3, it became known that the number of victims from two explosions in the village of Berezyna, Zhytomyr Region, on the M-06 highway had increased to 82. Of these, 38 people were hospitalized, including four children and a Japanese citizen. Operational and investigative actions are ongoing, the causes of the tragedy are being clarified.
