Trump announces suspension of trade talks with Canada

US President Donald Trump announced the suspension of trade talks with Canada. The reason for this was Ottawa's decision to impose tariffs on services for American technology companies.

Trump wrote about this on his social network Truth Social on Friday, June 27.

"We have just been informed that Canada, a very difficult Country to TRADE with, including the fact that they have charged our Farmers as much as 400% Tariffs, for years, on Dairy Products, has just announced that they are putting a Digital Services Tax on our American Technology Companies, which is a direct and blatant attack on our Country," the US president said.

According to him, Canada is "copying" the actions of the European Union, which previously imposed similar tariffs.

Trump said that in connection with the decision of the Canadian government, the US is suspending all trade talks.

"We will let Canada know the Tariff that they will be paying to do business with the United States of America within the next seven day period. Thank you for your attention to this matter!" the US president added.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on June 27, President Trump announced that the US and China had signed a new trade agreement that provides for the supply of rare earth minerals in exchange for the lifting of sanctions.

As a reminder, on June 19, it became known that Ukraine had proposed to the US to expand the minerals agreement to support the Ukrainian defense industry.
