"We are deterring and destroying these murderers," Zelenskyy on situation in Sumy Region
The russian occupiers had "absolutely insane" intentions in the Sumy Region, where Ukrainian troops continue to deter them. This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an evening video address on Friday, June 20.
Zelenskyy noted that today [June 20] at the General Staff meeting, special attention was paid to discussing the situation in the Sumy Region.
"I am grateful to our units for their resilience. The russians had different plans there, their intentions were absolutely insane, as always. We are deterring and destroying these murderers, we are protecting our Sumy Region," the President of Ukraine emphasized.
According to him, the General Staff also discussed in detail the agreements on the supply of weapons to Ukraine, including contracts, finances, and specific obligations of partners.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on June 11, MP Maryana Bezuhla stated that the purpose of the russian army's offensive in the Sumy Region is allegedly an attack on Kyiv.
On June 12, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Defense Forces of Ukraine are gradually pushing out units of the army of the aggressor country, russia, from the territory of the Sumy Region.
On June 16, the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration assured that Sumy is not threatened by occupation, but a plan for the evacuation of residents has been prepared.
