US President Donald Trump has approved a large-scale plan to create a new missile defense system called Golden Dome, worth USD 175 billion.

"Ronald Reagan dreamed of this, but then there was no necessary technology. Now we have everything we need to succeed," Trump said.

The Golden Dome system involves creating a network of satellites that will detect, track and intercept missiles. Its implementation will take 2.5-3 years. Initial investment in development will amount to USD 20 billion.

The idea of ​​​​creating an American analogue of the Israeli Iron Dome was discussed back in March. At the very beginning of his presidency, Trump instructed Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth to prepare a plan for a new generation of missile defense.
