Biden criticizes Trump for statements about Greenland and Canada

Former US President Joe Biden, speaking about the statements of the current US President Donald Trump regarding the purchase of Greenland and the accession of Canada as the 51st state, stressed that the United States stands for freedom and democracy, not for confiscation. Assessing the 100-day work of the new administration, he noted that he "does not see anything triumphant."

He said this in an interview with the BBC.

Thus, Biden said that he is concerned about the deterioration of relations between the US and Europe under President Donald Trump, which, according to him, "will change the modern history of the world."

Answering a question about the attitude of the current administration towards US allies, the former President condemned Trump's calls to return the Panama Canal, purchase Greenland and make Canada the 51st state.

"What the hell is going on here? What kind of President says that? We're not like that. We're for freedom, democracy, opportunity, but not confiscation," he said.

Speaking about President Trump's first 100 days in office, he noted: "I'll let history judge this. I don't see anything triumphant."

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Biden also said that the Trump administration's pressure on Ukraine to hand over territory to russia is a modern policy of appeasement, adding that those who think russian leader vladimir putin will stop if concessions are made in a peace deal are "simply stupid."

Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has firmly stated that his country is "not for sale" and "never will be sold," responding to US President Donald Trump's words during a meeting at the White House on May 6.
