Since US proposal for ceasefire, russia has launched 8,500 air bombs and 3,000 drones into Ukraine – Foreign Ministry
Since the US proposal for a complete and unconditional ceasefire on March 11, the aggressor country russia has used almost 8,500 guided air bombs, 200 missiles of various types and 3,000 drones against Ukraine.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Mariana Betsa announced this during a meeting of the UN Security Council on russian aggression, convened by France on April 29, the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the UN reports.
It is reported that russian aggression in Ukraine continues, the occupiers do not stop shelling the civilian population, which leads to the death of civilians, including children.
"Since the beginning of 2025, at least 577 civilians have been killed and over 2,900 injured, although the true number of casualties is likely to be higher due to limited access to the frontline and occupied areas. In April alone, the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine confirmed 848 civilian casualties - 46% more than in the same period last year. Verification measures are ongoing, and it is expected that the number of casualties will increase," Betsa noted.
Betsa also stated about the large-scale destruction of Ukraine's civilian infrastructure by the enemy. More than 218,000 civilian objects have been damaged or destroyed, more than 1,600 schools have been damaged, at least 200 of them have been destroyed, and almost 2,000 medical facilities have also been damaged, including 301 of them completely destroyed, Betsa noted. She stressed the sharp deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Ukraine due to russian shelling, the growing needs of the civilian population on the ground, and the urgency of providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the leader of the aggressor country, russia, vladimir putin, declared a new ceasefire from May 8 to 10 on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Victory.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused putin of another manipulation of the ceasefire.
