Indictment against Poroshenko sent to court - sources
The "Coal Case" (concerning Member of Parliament Viktor Medvedchuk and former President Petro Poroshenko) has been sent to court.
Ukrainian News Agency was informed about this by law enforcement sources.
"The indictment has been sent to court. The court will then consider the case," the source said. He did not specify which court the indictment was sent to. The court must first hold a preparatory hearing in the case, and then begin consideration on the merits.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the case was completed back in 2022. It took three years to familiarization with the case materials. Previously, the State Bureau of Investigation refused to provide information on the stage of the investigation of the case against former President Petro Poroshenko. The State Bureau of Investigation also denied media reports about the destruction of materials from a number of high-profile criminal cases, in particular, the case of the "Kharkiv Agreements" and the "coal case" (concerning Verkhovna Rada member Viktor Medvedchuk and former President Petro Poroshenko).
The State Bureau of Investigation and the Security Service of Ukraine suspect former President Petro Poroshenko of treason due to his facilitation of the supply of coal from occupied areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk Regions to Ukrainian state-owned enterprises.
