Rutte threatens putin with "devastating response" if russia tries to attack any NATO member

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that a "devastating response" awaits the aggressor country of russia if it tries to attack one of the alliance's member states.

Rutte said this at a press conference with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the Associated Press reports.

"If someone makes a mistake and decides that an attack on Poland or any of our allies will go unpunished, they will face the full force of the alliance," Rutte said.

He stressed that NATO's response "will be devastating," which should be made abundantly clear to russian dictator vladimir putin.

Speaking to reporters, Rutte expressed confidence that the United States remains committed to collective security guarantees, including Article 5 of the NATO Charter.

The NATO Secretary General noted that now is not the time to act alone. According to him, this applies to both Europe and North America.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 21, the Financial Times newspaper wrote, citing its own sources, that NATO's European members have begun work on a plan that involves transferring the US presidency to other members of the alliance.

As a reminder, in December 2024, NATO increased its military presence in the Baltic Sea after a series of incidents with damage to the submarine communications of the alliance's member countries.
