Ukraine to have 3 times more of IRIS-Ts. Ukraine agrees with IRIS-T air defense system manufacturer to increase supply of air defense systems and missiles for them
Ukraine has signed a memorandum with the German company Diehl Defence, which produces IRIS-T air defense systems. The agreement provides for a significant increase in the supply of missiles and anti-aircraft complexes.
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov has reported this on Facebook.
"We have signed a memorandum of understanding with Diehl Defence, the manufacturer of the IRIS-T system, which is an important part of Ukraine's air defense shield.
Protecting Ukrainian skies and cities is our priority. The signed agreement paves the way for large industrial projects that will strengthen the capabilities of Ukrainian air defense.
The memorandum also provides for a threefold increase in the supply of missiles and air defense systems," Umerov said.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, during his visit to Ukraine on December 2, announced that Germany had transferred to Ukraine five complete sets of IRIS-T, three Patriot systems, over 50 Gepard anti-aircraft systems with missiles, shells and spare parts to strengthen its air defense, and another IRIS-T system, a Patriot and Gepard system, is scheduled to be delivered in December. He also promised that in 2025, Germany would also supply air defense systems, howitzers, combat and reconnaissance drones.
Meanwhile, Germany has provided Ukraine with the sixth IRIS-T system.
