Trump's deputy ambassador to Ukraine suggests Ukraine's membership in NATO and return to 2014 borders

The United States does not rule out the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO and returning to 2014 borders. These issues remain on the agenda and will be discussed during negotiations between Ukraine, russia and European countries.

John Coale, U.S. President Donald Trump's deputy Ukraine envoy stated this, Reuters reports.

“Right now, that is still on the table," Coale said, answering a question about Ukraine's possible membership in the Alliance.

Coale noted that official negotiations have not yet begun, and the United States is holding discussions with European leaders and Ukraine on ways to end the war.

"Where do the Ukrainians and Europeans fit into all of this? At this point we don't know,” Coale said, adding that you "have to have the Europeans involved."

"The Europeans want this war stopped. They are more than willing to participate (in supporting Kyiv militarily). There are doubts ... as to whether they are going to give 100 percent. But everything I am hearing indicates they are willing to really get in there," Reuters quotes Trump administration’s official.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on February 12, Pete Hegseth said that the United States is committed to a sovereign Ukraine, but a peace agreement that includes possible NATO membership is not a realistic outcome.
