Power system in Transnistria may completely fail - Moldovan government
In the russian-occupied Transnistria, the electricity deficit is about 30%. Due to overload, there is a risk that the region's power system will completely fail.
This was stated by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy of Moldova, Constantin Borosan, NewsMaker reports.
The maximum production of the Moldovan DRPP and Dubăsari HEPP is 154 MW, while the maximum load in unrecognized Transnistria is 219 MW.
"This electricity deficit on the Left Bank of the Dniester is managed by disconnecting consumers, street lighting, water supply systems, industrial zones, agricultural processing enterprises, etc. If a sufficient number of consumers are not disconnected, there is a risk of a complete system failure, since the distribution networks on the Left Bank are overloaded," Borosan says.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 1, the separatist Moldovan region of Transnistria cut off heating and hot water supply to households after stopping the transit of natural gas through Ukraine.
On January 1, the Ukrainian GTS officially stopped the transit of russian gas.
As a reminder, at the end of 2024, a representative of the European Commission stated that the European Union is ready to stop the transit of russian gas through Ukraine.
