Finance Minister says how long Ukraine can fight without US aid

If the aid of the United States stops, Ukraine will have enough funds and weapons to resist russian aggression for at least another six months.

Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko said this in an interview with El Pais.

Marchenko noted that the possible cessation of aid from Washington after Donald Trump comes to power is a big problem and challenge for Ukraine, so cooperation with the new administration should be a "priority strategy".

"I think we have enough funds, enough weapons, enough missiles and artillery shells to resist, at least in the first half of 2025. We will allocate sufficient budget allocations for the procurement of ammunition and necessary military equipment in 2025. Now we are receiving the necessary weapons from the U.S. This means that, at least for the first half of the year and beyond, we will be well equipped to resist this aggression," he noted.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in early November, Politico informed that the Biden administration intends to urgently transfer to Ukraine USD 6 billion, which was left over from funds previously allocated for military aid to Ukraine.

At the same time, in the middle of this month, The Hill reported, citing a member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Tim Kaine, that Washington may adopt additional funding for Ukraine before the Trump administration takes office.

And the U.S. Department of Defense stated that Ukraine will receive a new package of military aid almost every week. Thus, Washington wants to have time to transfer military assets for the remaining funds before the end of Biden's term.

Biden also promised to do everything possible to ensure that Ukraine has the opportunity to continue fighting in 2025.
