Biden Administration plans to urgently send USD 6 billion to Ukraine before Trump's inauguration - Politico

The administration of US President Joe Biden plans to transfer the remaining USD 6 billion in security aid to Ukraine before the inauguration of Donald Trump.

This was reported by Politico on Wednesday, November 6.

The current President's administration is preparing for a possible termination of aid to Ukraine after Trump takes office, the publication writes. For this, they plan to urgently send the last USD 6 billion to Ukraine.

"The plan, described by two administration officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss domestic affairs, is the only option the White House has to continue sending equipment to Ukraine to repel a continued russian offensive. But the challenges are huge. Usually, after an aid package is announced, ammunition and equipment go to Ukraine for several months, so anything that will be sent in the coming weeks will likely not arrive in full until it gets into the Trump administration, and the next commander-in-chief may cut off supplies earlier," the article said.

The Pentagon will continue to remain "on track to continue providing authorized assistance in support of Ukraine," Pentagon spokesman Lt. Col. Charlie Dietz said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on November 1, the United States announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine worth USD 425 million.

On October 21, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the United States would allocate another USD 800 million for the production of Ukrainian drones.

On September 26, Zelenskyy thanked the United States for the decision to provide defense aid to Ukraine in the total amount of USD 7.9 billion and the introduction of additional sanctions against russia.
