Ukraine appeals to government of Venezuela because of protests

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on the Venezuelan authorities to respect the people's choice in the presidential election and not to use force against peaceful protesters.

The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heorhii Tykhyi, wrote about this in his X-account on Tuesday, July 30.

Tykhyi noted that the election process involves transparent vote counting, while the voting results reflect the will of the people.

"Free and fair elections imply that every vote is counted transparently, and the results accurately reflect the will of the people. Venezuelans deserve nothing less. The people of Venezuela deserve their will to be respected. Over the last two decades, the Ukrainian people have faced situations in which their peaceful choices were not respected by authorities. We urge Venezuelan authorities to refrain from using force against peaceful protesters," the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
