Suspect in Iryna Farion murder detained in Dnipro - Zelenskyy

A suspect in the murder of linguist and former Member of Parliament of Ukraine Iryna Farion was detained in Dnipro.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this in his Telegram channel.

Thus, Zelenskyy said that he was informed about the detention by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko.

"The detention operation was very difficult. Hundreds of specialists of the National Police of Ukraine, SSU and other services worked on solving the murder during these days. An 18-year-old guy was detained," the President said.

Zelenskyy added that the necessary investigative actions and examinations are ongoing.

The President also instructed the Minister of Internal Affairs to present all the details to the public.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 19, around 7:30 p.m. in Lviv, an unknown person shot Iryna Farion with a firearm on Masaryka Street. As a result of the shooting, Farion received a severe head injury.

She was hospitalized at the Saint Panteleimon Hospital, where she was in intensive care for some time.

Despite the efforts of doctors, Iryna Farion died three hours after the attempt.

The russian Astra Telegram channel reported that the russian neo-Nazi group NS/WP (National-Socialism/White Power) claimed responsibility for the murder of Iryna Farion in Lviv.
