Just peace in Ukraine corresponds to strategic interests of China - Kuleba
Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba said that a just peace in Ukraine corresponds to China's strategic interests.
This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"I am convinced that a just peace in Ukraine corresponds to China's strategic interests, and China's role as a global peace force is important," Kuleba said during a meeting with his Chinese colleague.
On July 24, Kuleba held talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Guangzhou. The meeting of the heads of foreign policy departments of Ukraine and China was held to develop contacts between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
The main topic of discussion was the search for ways to stop russian aggression and China's possible role in achieving a stable and just peace.
Kuleba emphasized that russian aggression destroyed peace and slowed down development, and every new day of war entails new violations of humanity and further erosion of justice, therefore it is necessary to end the war against Ukraine, restore peace and speed up the recovery of Ukraine.
The minister separately informed his colleague about the results of the Peace Summit in Switzerland and explained the logic of further steps in the implementation of the Peace Formula as a way to a fair end to russian aggression.
Kuleba proved the consistent position of Ukraine, which consists in the readiness to conduct negotiations with the russian side at a certain stage, when russia will be ready to conduct negotiations in good faith, but emphasized that currently such readiness is not observed on the russian side.
During the negotiations, the parties also exchanged views on the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral relations, as well as the international agenda.
Kuleba reminded that Ukraine recently started negotiations on joining the European Union and this decision is irreversible and offered to discuss bilateral relations in particular through the prism of Ukraine's future membership in the EU and China's relations with Europe.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine emphasized that russian aggression is not only an obstacle to the development of Ukraine, it is also an obstacle to international stability, the development of good neighborly relations, and in particular the development of trade between China and Europe.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Kuleba will pay an official visit to China on July 23-25 to find ways to stop russian aggression and discuss China's possible role in achieving a sustainable and just peace. This is the first bilateral visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to China since 2012.
Regarding the visit to China, Kuleba noted that it is necessary to avoid competing peace plans, it is very important that Kyiv and Beijing conduct a direct dialogue and exchange positions.
Earlier, Kuleba reported that Ukraine is conducting an exchange of views with China regarding the relationship between the Ukrainian Peace Formula and the Chinese vision of peace.
In June, the deputy head of the Office of the President Ihor Zhovkva reported that Ukraine has already started preparations for the second Peace Summit, to which the aggressor country of russia may be invited.
