Agrarians sow 852,100 hectares with spring crops
As of April 5, agricultural enterprises have sown 852,100 hectares with spring grains and legumes for the harvest of 2024.
The Ministry of the Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
In particular, farmers have sown 118,300 hectares of wheat, 543,200 hectares of barley, 119,000 hectares of peas, and 62,400 hectares of oats.
Over the past week, Ukrainian farmers have sown grain and leguminous crops on an area of 375,400 hectares.
At the same time, sowing of spring grains and legumes ended in the Odesa Region.
In total, 8,000 hectares of wheat, 50,000 hectares of barley, 32,000 hectares of peas and 1,600 hectares of oats have been sown there.
Sugar beets have already been sown on an area of 58.7 hectares; the Poltava Region is the leader - 20,500 hectares.
Also, agrarians of Ukraine are sowing oilseed crops.
In particular, sunflower is already being sown in the Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil, Cherkasy and Chernivtsi Regions.
Soybeans are being sown in the Vinnytsia, Odesa, Cherkasy and Chernihiv Regions.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, at the end of February, sowing of spring crops started in Ukraine.
In 2023, Ukrainian farmers collected more than 70 million tons of grain and oilseeds and exported products worth almost USD 22 billion.
The Ukrainian Grain Association predicts a decrease in the harvest of grain and oilseeds by 8%, or 6.5 million tons, to 76.1 million tons in 2024 compared to last year.
