Agrarians sow 214,500 hectares with spring crops

As of March 21, agricultural enterprises in 20 regions have sown 214,500 hectares with spring grains and legumes for the harvest of 2024.

The Ministry of the Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

In particular, farmers have sown 29,000 hectares of wheat (11.8%), 117,300 hectares of barley (14.3%), 53,100 hectares of peas (33.2%) and 3,700 hectares of oats (6.5%).

In addition, sunflower sowing began in the Kyiv Region.

At the same time, farmers of the Odesa Region have sown the most - 56,700 hectares, of which 2,800 hectares of wheat, 28,200 hectares of barley, 20,700 hectares of peas and 1,300 hectares of oats.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, at the end of February, sowing of spring crops started in Ukraine.

In 2023, Ukrainian farmers collected more than 70 million tons of grain and oilseeds and exported products worth almost USD 22 billion.

The Ukrainian Grain Association predicts a decrease in the harvest of grain and oilseeds by 8%, or 6.5 million tons, to 76.1 million tons in 2024 compared to last year.
