SSU completes investigation into destruction of Mriya, suspects face up to 15 years in prison
The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) completed the investigation into the destruction of the Mriya plane and collected evidence of the guilt of the former officials of the Antonov State Enterprise - the director general and the head of the aviation security unit.
This is stated in the notification of the SSU.
"Criminal actions of the perpetrators led to the temporary seizure of a strategically important airfield during the battles for Kyiv and the destruction of the AN-225 Mriya aircraft. Currently, SSU investigators have completed the pre-trial investigation and sent the indictment to the court," the message reads.
According to the investigation, on the eve of the full-scale invasion of the russian federation, the perpetrators did not allow servicemen of the National Guard of Ukraine to enter the territory of the Hostomel airport to prepare for its defense. To do this, in the period of January-February 2022, the officials ordered to block the admission of the Ukrainian military to the territory of the facility.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the defendants are charged under Part 2 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations).
The accused are in custody. They face up to 15 years in prison.
It will be recalled that in February 2022, the russian military destroyed the An-225 Mriya aircraft at the airfield in Hostomel (Kyiv Region).
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 19, An-225 Mriya crew commander Dmytro Antonov said that the Mriya plane was not saved due to the inaction of the management of the Antonov State Enterprise (Kyiv).
The Security Service of Ukraine established all the circumstances of the destruction of the An-225 Mriya aircraft and why the management of the Antonov State Enterprise did not take all necessary measures to preserve it.
