Kubrakov holds urgent talks with head of Polish National Security Bureau regarding inadmissibility of border blockade

Oleksandr Kubrakov, the Vice Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine and the Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development, held urgent talks with the head of the National Security Bureau of Poland, Jacek Siewiera, regarding the inadmissibility of blocking the border, in particular, passenger transport.

This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Blocking the border is a direct threat to the security of a defending country. Such actions have a negative impact on our opposition to the common enemy in the name of russia. Women and children who sought refuge from the war and due to various reasons return home cannot become hostages of business interests. Similar actions and examples of inhumane treatment of Ukrainians at the EU border can be used by the russian special services to incite an artificial conflict between our countries. We are waiting for concrete actions by our Polish colleagues to prevent such situations and solve the problem in general," Kubrakov emphasized.

In addition, according to the report, Deputy Minister Serhii Derkach is in contact with Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Poland Paweł Gancarz and emphasizes that despite the suspension of the blockade by Polish carriers, the situation at the border is becoming even more critical.

"Currently, 6 checkpoints are blocked on the Polish side of the border. The most critical situation is at the Yahodyn-Dorohusk checkpoint, where freight traffic has stopped at all. Humanitarian, perishable goods and fuel are not allowed there. This has a direct impact on our defense capability. Also because of this empty trucks carrying critically needed goods cannot leave the checkpoint from Ukraine. They are forced to wait in a more than 15-kilometer queue for empty trucks at the checkpoint Nyzhankovychi - Malhowice, where registration to eCherha [e-queue] is temporarily suspended. Thus, drivers literally live on the road without normal conditions," Derkach emphasized.

Currently, the checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Polish border Yahodyn - Dorohusk, Uhryniv - Dolhobyczow, Ustyluh - Zosin, Shehyni - Medyka, Rava-Ruska - Hrebenne and Krakovets - Korczowa are blocked for the free movement of trucks.

According to the report, thanks to the eCherha service, there are no physical exit queues on the Ukrainian side of the border, instead, on the territory of Poland, about 3,000 trucks are waiting on the road.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, as of February 17, Polish protesters continued to block traffic in six directions.
