European Commission proposes to extend Ukraine's "economic visa-free regime" with EU until June 2025 - Shmyhal
The European Commission proposes to extend Ukraine's "economic visa-free regime" with the European Union until June 2025.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on his Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"This means that our entrepreneurs will be able to continue to export their products to European markets without quotas, duties and tariffs. This provides additional opportunities for Ukrainian business and strengthens the sustainability of our economy," he said.
The Prime Minister added that in recent months the government has worked hard with European partners to make it possible.
Separately, he noted the position of the European Commission on clearer tools for controlling the circulation of goods in such a way as to avoid any potential conflicts in agricultural markets.
"This will allow more harmonious integration of Ukrainian agriculture into the EU," the Prime Minister said.
Shmyhal stressed that Ukraine also expects that the measures developed will remove harmful unilateral bans on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products from Poland, Slovakia and Hungary.
Now the position of the European Commission will be considered by the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in May 2022, the European Union abolished duties on all Ukrainian goods for 1 year.
In May 2023, the EU extended the "economic visa-free regime" with Ukraine for another year - until June 2024.
