85 combat clashes of Defense Forces with invaders take place during day. General Staff operational update

During the day, January 16, 85 combat clashes of the Defense Forces with russian invaders took place.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced this in its evening operational update on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

In total, the enemy launched 2 missile and 13 air strikes, carried out 32 attacks from multiple rocket launchers on the positions of our troops and settlements. As a result of russian terrorist attacks, there are wounded among the civilian population. Private residences and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

On the Volyn and Polissia axes, the operational situation is without significant changes. No signs of the formation of offensive groups were found. Certain units of the armed forces of Belarus perform tasks in the areas bordering with Ukraine.

On the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, carries out shelling of settlements from the territory of the russian federation, increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine. About 20 settlements were undeer artillery and mortar attacks of the enemy, among them Hremiachka, Mykhalchyna-Sloboda, Chernihiv Region; Sosnivka, Atynske, Volfyne, Stepok, Sumy Region; Udy, Vovchansk, Okhrimivka, Zemlianky, Kharkiv Region.

On the Kupiansk axis, the enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions. It fired artillery and mortars at about 10 settlements, these are, in particular, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Berestove, Kharkiv Region.

On the Lyman axis, our defenders repelled 9 attacks by the invaders in the areas of Terny, Yampolivka, Torske, Donetsk Region and another 15 attacks near Makiivka, Bilohorivka, Luhansk Region and north of Hryhorivka, Vesele, Donetsk Region. About 15 settlements suffered from enemy artillery and mortar attacks, including Bilohorivka, Luhansk Region and Torske, Hryhorivka, Serebrianka, Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, Rozdolivka, Donetsk Region.

On the Bakhmut axis, the Defense Forces repelled 6 enemy attacks in the areas of Ivanivske, Klishchiivka and Andriivka, Donetsk Region. More than 10 settlements were under artillery and mortar fire, in particular, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, Niu York, Donetsk Region.

On the Avdiivka axis, our defenders repelled 15 enemy attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka and another 15 attacks near Pervomaiske and Nevelske, Donetsk Region. Here the occupiers, with the support of aviation, tried to improve the tactical position. About 15 settlements were shelled by artillery and mortars, among them Keramik, Berdychi, Stepove, Lastochkyne, Nevelske, Donetsk Region.

On the Mariinka axis, the Defense Forces continue to deter the enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Mariinka and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk Region. On this axis, the invaders, with the support of aviation, 16 times unsuccessfully tried to break through the defense of our troops. In addition, the enemy launched an air strike in the area of ​ ​ the village of Kostiantynivka, Donetsk Region. Under the artillery and mortar fire of the invaders were Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Pobieda, Novomykhailivka, Kostiantynivka, Katerynivka.

On the Shakhtarsk axis, the enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions. It launched an air strike in the area of ​ ​ Vodiane, Donetsk Region. More than 10 settlements, in particular, Vodiane, Prechystivka, Blahodatne, Staromaiorske, Urozhaine, Donetsk Region, were under artillery and mortar attacks.

On the Zaporizhzhia axis, our defenders repelled the enemy's attack west of Verbove, Zaporizhzhia Region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to restore the lost position. About 25 settlements were shelled by artillery and mortars, among them Poltavka, Malynivka, Chervone, Bilohiria, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Zaporizhzhia Region.

In the area of ​ ​ responsibility of the Odesa Operational and Strategic Troops Group on the Kherson axis, the regional center of the Kherson Region and the districts of the settlements of Antonivka, Dniprovske, Tiahynka, Kherson Region were shelled.

The enemy does not refuse the intention to knock out Ukrainian units from bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnieper. So, during the day, the enemy unsuccessfully stormed the positions of our troops 6 times.

During the day, the Air Force of the Defense Forces struck at 1 area of ​ ​ concentration of enemy personnel, weapons and military equipment. Also, the forces and means of air defense of Ukraine destroyed one Kh-59 guided aircraft missile.

Missile forces units hit 1 area of personnel concentration, 1 control point and 1 enemy ammunition depot.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the losses of russia in the war in Ukraine on the morning of Tuesday, January 16, are 1,100 invaders, the total number of losses of the russian army since the beginning of the invasion is 372,090 of the military. In addition, the Armed Forces destroyed 36 AFVs, 33 vehicles, 30 artillery systems, 24 tanks and two units of the aircraft of the enemy.
