Ihnat names russian air defense systems likely capable of intercepting ATACMS missiles

The aggressor country russia has several air defense systems that, theoretically, can shoot down American ATACMS ballistic missiles. However, this must be confirmed in practice.

Colonel Yurii Ihnat, a spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this on the air of the telethon.

According to him, the invaders are armed with anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs) S-300V1 and the Triumf S-400.

The S-300V1 complex can be equipped with some types of missiles that are able to cope with ballistic missiles.

In addition, the Triumf S-400 air defense system, perhaps, can also cope with this task.

"But this also needs to be proven," Ihnat emphasized.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on October 17, Ukraine for the first time used American ATACMS missiles to strike military targets of the russian occupation army.

Then the Defense Forces of Ukraine attacked the airports of Luhansk and Berdiansk (Zaporizhzhia Region), where the invaders' combat helicopters are based.

According to Western media, Ukraine received from the United States about 20 ATACMS missiles with a cluster warhead.

Recall, on October 20, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Oleksii Danilov said that Ukraine will be receiving ATACMS missiles until the liberation of its territory.
