PGO To Repeatedly Invite Saakashvili For Questioning, Maintaining Its Procedural Actions Legal

The Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) intends to repeatedly invite former President of Georgia / Leader of the New Forces Movement political party Mikheil Saakashvili for questioning and maintains that its procedural actions are legal.

Spokesperson of the PGO Andrii Lysenko wrote this on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

In particular, Lysenko wrote that the criminal proceeding against Saakashvili was indeed assigned to the jurisdiction of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU)'s Main Administration in Kyiv and Kyiv region.

Yet, the Prosecutor General's Office was overseeing the upholding of the laws during the proceeding.

This means that the Prosecutor had the powers to conduct procedural activities under the case.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on December 18, Saakashvili came to the PGO on summons but refused to subject to questioning and demanded that his case be handed over to the SBU.
