Chiefs Of General Staffs Of Ukraine And Poland Discuss Threats Of Zapad 2017 Exercises Of Russia And Belarus

Viktor Muzhenko, the chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and Leszek Surawski, the chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army, have discussed potential threats in connection with the Zapad 2017 military exercises of Russia and Belarus to be held in Belarus September 14-20.

The press service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The statement reads that Viktor Muzhenko and Leszek Surawski met in Lviv on August 30.

The agenda of the negotiations also includes issues of joint trainings and joint exercises of headquarters.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, according to data of the Defense Ministry of Russia, participating in the Zapad 2017 exercises will be close to 13,000 military and 280 units of weapons and military equipment, 25 aircraft.
