Interior Minister Klymenko may be appointed Minister of Defense - sources
Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko may be appointed Minister of Defense instead of Mykhailo Fedorov.
This was told to the Ukrainian News Agency by sources in the authorities.
According to the interlocutors, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a conversation with Klymenko and offered him the position of Minister of Defense.
"Such a proposal really was, and Klymenko will obviously be appointed Minister of Defense," said one of the interlocutors.
However, who can take the place of Minister of Internal Affairs after Ihor Klymenko's transfer to the Ministry of Defense has not yet been decided. According to the Ukrainian News Agency sources, there are no clear candidates.
At the same time, the candidacy for the position of Minister of Internal Affairs of the current Head of the National Police, Ivan Vyhivskyi, is being considered.
But, according to sources, such an appointment is unlikely to take place, since Vyhivskyi has not been working as the head of the National Police for so long. Instead, an unexpected candidate for the position of Minister of Internal Affairs may appear.
Sources also said that Fedorov may be dismissed from the authorities altogether, since he has conflicts with many high-ranking officials. In particular, he has a conflict with generals and personally with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in April, the head of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada, Davyd Arakhamia, stated that the issue of replacing the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, is not being considered by the Verkhovna Rada.
