Telegram short links in the t.me domain stopped opening in browsers worldwide. According to preliminary information, the reason was the blocking of the domain by the.me domain zone registry, which belongs to Montenegro.

The failure was reported by the DownDetector service and users of social networks.

After the blocking of the t.me domain, users lost the ability to open short links to channels, profiles and individual Telegram publications through the browser. Such links no longer redirect to either the web version of the messenger or the application.

Why did the Telegram failure occur

According to preliminary information, the.me domain zone registry blocked the t.me domain. The reason for this decision has not yet been made public.

According to open sources, the.me domain zone is managed by doMEn, which the Montenegrin government has designated as the registry operator. Identity Digital, GoDaddy, and Montenegrin ME-net are also involved in supporting the infrastructure.

Is the Telegram application working?

The problem only affects the short t.me domain and browser transitions. Telegram mobile applications and the desktop version of the messenger work normally.

Thus, the failure did not affect messaging or the operation of the service itself. The restriction affected only the web resource that uses the.me domain zone for short links.
