No agreement was reached with russia regarding Alaska - Rubio in response to russians' accusations
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized that no agreements were reached during the US-russia summit in Alaska, while the russian side accuses the Americans of failing to fulfill “agreements.”
He made these remarks during a conversation with journalists, according to Clash Report.
“No agreement was reached in Alaska; a proposal was put forward in Alaska. It was never an agreement,” Rubio emphasized.
As a reminder, the russian side had previously accused the US of failing to fulfill the “agreements” reached between russian dictator vladimir putin and US President Donald Trump at the summit in Alaska last August.
At the same time, the Secretary of State expressed the US’s readiness to play a “constructive role” in ending russia’s war against Ukraine.
“We are ready to take a step forward and play a constructive role, if there is one for us to play, as well as to bring the parties closer together and put an end to the war. This is exactly what the president has been trying to do for a year and a half,” Rubio added.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, meanwhile, kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are busy with other matters, but he expects that contacts with them regarding Ukraine will resume as soon as they are available.
He expressed this view in response to a question about whether other representatives could be brought into discussions on Ukraine while this pair is occupied with other matters.
