An identification badge has been introduced for National Police officers. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko has announced this on his Telegram channel, according to the Ukrainian News agency.

"Recently, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved decisions initiated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs that take into account the challenges of wartime and strengthen the safety of police officers and the social protection of their families. In particular, a new element of the police uniform has been introduced—an identification badge," he said.

Klymenko noted that the badge will be used while performing duties in combat zones and frontline communities, and will display the officer’s individual identification number, blood type, and Rh factor.

According to the minister, this will, first and foremost, enable medical assistance to be provided more promptly in the event of injuries. In addition, the badge will serve as an additional means of identifying the police officer in the event of capture or death.

The government also supported strengthening social protection for the families of police officers who have been killed or gone missing while on duty; in particular, it approved the procedure for issuing a special certificate to their family members, which will ensure access to the guarantees provided by law.

Klymenko noted that the full-scale war has changed the nature of service in the National Police; today, police officers carry out missions in combat zones, work under fire, evacuate civilians, and, together with the Security and Defense Forces, counter russian aggression.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in March, Klymenko ordered the formation of three new combat units within the National Guard.
